Psalm 149
Praise the Lord.
Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise in the assembly of the saints.
Let Israel rejoice in their Maker; let the people of Zion be glad in their King. Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with tambourine and harp. For the Lord takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with salvation. Let the saints rejoice in his honor and sing for joy on their beds.
May the praise of God be in their mouths and a double-edged sword in their hands, to inflict vengeance on the nations and punishment on the peoples, to bind their kings with fetters, their nobles with shackles of iron, to carry out the sentence written against them. This is the glory of all his saints.
Praise the Lord.
A Thought
All who have received salvation from our Maker and King should sing a new song, rejoice and be glad. God delights in the praise of his people. Glory, honor, and praise belongs to God. “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and morrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12 We must praise God and carry his word in our hand and in our hearts because his word will bring salvation or punishment upon the whole world.
Our Prayer
Father we humbly praise you and desire to sing praise to you. Thank you for your word filled with promises of hope and deliverance to all who believe. Your love and grace for us is beyond our understanding. We are weak and empty. Awaken our spirits, cleanse and fill us with your joy, make our hearts overflow with your love that we may sing a new song to bring glory and honor to your name. We ask in Jesus’ name, amen.
