Psalm 85: 1-2, 8-13
You showed favor to your land, O Lord; you preserved the fortunes of Jacob. You forgave the iniquity of your people and covered all their sins.
I will listen to what God the Lord will say; he promises peace to his people, his saints–but let them not return to folly. Surely his salvation is near those who fear him, that his glory may dwell in our land.
Love and faithfulness meet together; righteousness and peace kiss each other. Faithfulness springs forth from the earth, and righteousness looks down from heaven. The Lord will indeed give what is good, and our land will yield its harvest. Righteousness goes before him and prepares the way for his steps.
God desires to bless his people when they will listen and fear him. God will forgive, show favor to the land, and give his people peace if they will return to his righteousness and not to their folly of evil, wickedness nor idolatry. When we come to God’s love with our faithfulness to him, we will receive his righteousness and peace. Our Lord will give us what is good, bless our land with a fruitful harvest and prepare the righteous way for our steps.
Father awaken and revive us to listen and obey your message of truth, righteousness and peace. We desire to be faithful to walk in obedience with you. Cover us from our iniquity of sin and death with the blood your Son shed for us. Fill us with your Spirit to lead us in your paths of righteousness. We ask in Jesus’ name, amen.
