Revelation 21: 1-8
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of water of life. He who overcomes will inherit all this, and I will be his God and he will be my son. But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all lairs–their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”
A Thought
All the wicked, the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all lairs, have been judged according to what they had done. If their names were not found in the book of life, they have been thrown into the lake of burning sulfur which is the second death.
Now a new heaven, a new earth and the new Jerusalem, the Holy City is revealed to John for all whose names are written in the book of life and have overcome by the blood of the Lamb. This will be the new dwelling of God to live with man as their God. They will be his people with no more tears, death, crying or pain for God is making all things new.
Today is the day of salvation! We get to choose now if we want to accept God’s plan of salvation made possible through the blood of his Son Jesus the Christ or if we do nothing, we face the judgement of the penalty for our rebellion of rejecting God. Choose you this day whom you will serve God or yourself.
Our Prayer
Father thank you for your love sent to all the world that we may accept the life, death and resurrection of Jesus to pay the penalty of our sin. Awaken us to the trustworthy truth of you word today that we may inherit eternal life anew with you in the new heaven and earth. We ask in Jesus’ name, amen.
